Mercedes Benz repair: 1997 sl 320 automatic hardtop release, fuse box, auto help

put top on last fall and battery died over winter replaced battery and now hard top will notrelease button stays lit and the rollbar light is on on the dash  can you help

Does the rollbar move down at all? Have you checked all the fuses to make sure one is not blown. Fuse box in trunk right side and one in engine compartment. If not blown remove fuse and see if the control unit will reset. If the roll bar will not go down the top will not move. Possible control unit damage.
