Mercedes Benz repair: ball joints replacement, grease nipples, number search results

My 1994 E320 with 183,000 miles has developed sqreeching ball joints.  Replacement seems the only remedy since there were no grease nipples designed into the original joints.  Local independent parts supplier says new ball joints for this MY come with a new control arm at $449 each side.  Aleternative recommendations most welcome.
