Mercedes Benz repair: 1987 300D Turbo, no start in park, neutral safety switch, battery selection

Battery died on my 87 300dt and now it will not start in park.  Any ideas?

FYI Note:
This was never called a dt.
You have a Sedan
Chassis W124.133
Engine 603.960 I6
Model 300D Turbo
Years 1987


I assume it will start in neutral, if this is wrong, e-mail me.
This is generally a failed NSS (Neutral Safe Start switch).
An easy DIY repair.
Also inspect and/or replace the main ground cable from your transmission bell housing to body.
