Mercedes Benz repair: 380 SEC cuts out, k jetronic, mercedes benz 380sec

Hi, I have had a 380 SEC Benz -83 for approx. 12 months. Its done about 250 000 k's. I live in Sydney, Australia.
After I have driven it around city traffic for a day or so, lots of start and stops and low speed it will cut out at totally different points, unexpectedely. It can be when I'm cruising at any speed 80 k's to 120 k's, sitting at lights, reversing etc. This normally goes on for a couple of days until I fill up again and then she goes ok till next city drive. When she cuts out there is nothing I can do except to come to a stop, sit for a minute and the restart. Sometimes it only happens once and sometimes, like this last time, I can only drive for a few minutes and it happens again.
The fuel distributor was changed last year. The mechanic who has looked at her does not know what to do except to spend lots of money looking at different options.
