Mercedes Benz repair: 1976 MB 300D w/o power in Oregon, fuel hoses, throttle linkage

Question
This unit has been running fine as my commuter rig, 31 miles each way. My daughter borrowed it and complained that it lost power, but still ran. Idled fine. So she pulled over, waited a minute, then took off. It did this 2 or 3 times that day, and I couldn't get it to repeat the behavior. I had a mechanic look at it, and while he was driving it ,it lost power, the accelerator pedal went to the floor, and the engine was purring along at idle. He couldn't figure it out, so I picked it up and drove it 15 miles home without a problem. Any ideas?

Answer
Best guess:
You should have a W115.114 Sedan with a 617.910 I5 engine.

#1. Inspect and replace all fuel hoses that show "ANY" cracking or dampness.
#2. Replace your primer pump, unless it is less than five years old.
#3. Replace the engine mounts, unless they can show unbroken (with a jack gently lifting the engine), and not be turned to mush from oil leaks.
#4. Inspect the throttle linkage (including the arm on the injection pump) for looseness, damage, missing fasteners on the bracket mount.
