Question -
my 608 1988 runs beautifully, 8 litres to 100 km , just like a kitten, but i have laid her up over the winter and am trying to start her up again for the summer, she has a 24volt starter mototr but the rest is all 12v, we are two of us working on it and we both have opposing views as to why it wont start, he says it doesnt have enough power , we have a 90 amp and a 100 amp 12 volt battery, and when we start the engine to me it sounds like diesel isnt getting to the engine but he says its the starter motor just not turning enough ,  we cant find any leaks in the tubes from the reservoir adn we have changed a screw with holees in it ,(sory dont know the name, giclar in french) two times thinking it was that but if you have any ideas  cool , cheers

Answer -
Not enough power.
The 608 needs 800 AMPS - 900 AMPS for starting.

Answer
Best guess:
Replace the canister fuel filter (fill it with diesel before installing).
One of the hoses is leaking air into the fuel system.
Replace all (fuel) rubber hoses in the engine compartment.
Fill the fuel tank to 1/2, then try starting again.
