Mercedes Benz repair: Mercedes 300te - folding middle seat, mercedes 300te, middle seat

I am a new owner of a 1991 Mecedes 300te station wagon.  I can't get the middle seat to fold down!!  I have lifted the bottom seats up; taken the head rests out - but the back rests will not fold down!  Ugh.  The levers at the bottom, center of the backrests that lift up once the bottom seats are lifted seem to function fine.  I wouldn't be surprised if one side was stuck, but both sides? Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Take it to your local MB dealer, the service advisor should be able to show you how they function, or verify a problem.
