Mercedes Benz repair: 1989 mercedes, mercedes benz 190e, steering damper

Question
I have a 1989 mercedes 190e 2.6 and the steering has an excessive play. The tie rods and joints are tight. What can I do about this ?

Inspect the Steering Coupling, and replace the Steering Damper.
