Mercedes Benz repair: 300d merc....need a head, head thanks, 300d

I've had my 1978 300D benz in a shop for months...they are rebuilding it...came to real problem...can't find a head...they said that mercedes doesn't make them and he can't find one.  He thinks he can convert  newer one...he's had the car since March...we just need some help...do you know where to get a head?  Thanks for any advice you can give.  Janey

If it is a standard OM617 turbo head, they are not hard to find.
