Mercedes Benz repair: MBZ Parts Identification, prices questions, 380sl

Question
I have a 1982 380SL that is brand new to me with no
background information available.

Now that I have the engine apart, I find the lower skirt of the
piston hit a counterweight at bottom dead center (or close
enough) and immediately froze the engine.  Not knowing any
repair history, I will have to backtrack, assuming the piston or
the rod, or even the crankshaft is the wrong one for the enigne.
Based on the markings on the piston I can Identify it and it looks
to be the right one, although now it is broken.  The offending
rod has numbers on it but not complete enough to be part
numbers...for example 116 10 12... where the other rods are
marked 116 10 31....  This is just the most basic of
questions...how do I idenyify the actual part number on the rods
and the crank?  Thanks very much!.  Dave

Answer
With no history; I would buy a good used running engine to install.
If you want to rebuild it, call Phil for correct parts numbers and prices.
