Mercedes Benz repair: Ignition switch replacement, mercedes benz 190d, number search results

Question
How does it come apart? 1984 190d ignition switch, key wouldn't turn. I have taken the dash apart and got the switch out but I still cannot get it apart. I know the proceedure is to put the thin wires in the holes and I have done that a hundred times. I must remove the black housing cylinder to replace the lock cylinder. I went to a mercedes shop and the service mgr wanted 500$ to replace it. He told me to force turn the key to position 1 and the key tumblers would fall out
and then the lock cylinder would be easy to get  out. I'm afraid I may have damaged it beyond repair.
