could someone please help me with my 1998 mercedes s420, I am having a problem with my trunk lid it is not fully closed and I can't get it open using the button, key or dash button, any advice appreciated!!!!!

There are three reasons I can think of for this.
#1. Latch jammed with foreign object or broken. = take it to the dealer, for lowest time/cost repair.
#2. Something between seal and deck lid jamming latch in half lock position. = take it to the dealer, for lowest time/cost repair.
#3. Collision damage? = further data needed.
Thank you so much for your quick response, there has been no collision i know that there is either fabric or a peice of cadboard box caught in the latch, i tried holding down on the lid and pushing the button at the same time no luck!! any furthur advice?!!
Secondary damage done by an untrained technician could cost you very serious money to repair. = $1000.00 USD.
If you know it is a coat or blanket jamming the seal, push down on the deck lid and press the button at the same time, be careful not to dent the deck lid.
AnswerSince it is fabric or cloth jammed in the latch:
Try working the deck lid up and down while pressing the button.
If this fails, you will need to go to the dealer.
The latch is difficult to access, even with the deck lid open.
I presume the trunk is full, which will make repair far more difficult for even the best Mercedes mechanic.
If you are very fortunate, there will be no secondary damage.
