MG Car Repair: Fitting doors

QUESTION: The doors seem to be slightly larger than the opening. Car has been off the frame for quite some time. How do I "stretch" the opening.

Hi Bob.

I think you will find that the door spaces have closed up because the body has been resting on flat ground without any packing under the mounting points.  The chassis is not flat, so when you mount the body on the chassis it should open up again and the doors will then fit.

Please examine the body carefully before re-using it.  The main wooden members that run front to back can dry out and crack.  Replacing them is a major job because the sheet metal bodywork is wrapped around them.
