MG Car Repair: Fuel Pump????, volt battery, earth ground

Barrie, Adjusted pump like you suggested put it back on the car and now it won't tick!!  It is getting fire to the pump (rubbed lead wired against body of pump and it sparked).  At this point it may be too complicated for me to attempt but any suggestions before I give up? Sandy

Hi Sandy.  Did you test the pump before you put it on the car?  Just connect it to a 12 volt battery and check that it ticks.

Perhaps you have a wiring problem.  The pump requires a power supply AND a good earth (ground).

Apart from that, I really am out of ideas.
