MG Car Repair: Seat Belts on a 1955 TF, seat belts, mg tf

I have a customer with a 1955 MG TF that would like to add shoulder harness to the seat belts. Is there any kind of kit or factory upgrade available that you know of?

Hi Matt.  There were no provisions for seat belts on a 1955 TF.  The bodywork consists of a flimsy wooden frame with thin sheet metal wrapped around it.  This is not strong enough to take the stresses from a shoulder harness, so you will need some extra brackets attached to the chassis to take the strain.  

There is a company in the UK that sells seat belt kits for pre-1972 cars.  They are called Quick Fit Seat Belts.
