MG Car Repair: Adding damper oil to zenith stromberg carburetor, zenith stromberg, stromberg carburetor

Question
I have a 1978 MGB.  How easy is it to add damper oil to the zenith stromberg carburetor.  Is it as simple as unscrewing the damper and dripping in the oil?
Thanks, I am a new owner.

Answer
Hi Tom:

Yep, that's about it. Use regular engine oil. You can if you want to get "fancy" - use something like 20 weight oil or the stuff they sell in the catalogs (more expensive) - but it isn't needed. Just fill to the top of the internal tube that the damper plunger fits into. Don't fill all the way to the top of the damper housing. Hope this helps. Good luck.
