QUESTION: 1972 MG Midget 1250 cc looking for a wiring diagram...the major things are hook up and working....just a few extra wires laying around I have the manual but no color code...

No, it is not exactly the same, but it is sufficiently similar that you can use it with confidence.  There may be a few items on a 1978 Californian specification 1500cc car that you do not have on your 1972 1275cc car, but the colour code didn't change.  

If you have any specific items that you are still unsure about, please feel free to get back to me again.  I do have a copy of the 1972 USA wiring diagram, but it is in a book, not machine readable.
