MG Car Repair: Bump Stops on 1973 MGB, silicone grease, big eye

Question
Any suggestions and/or tips on the easiest way to replace rear bump stops and bushings on 1973 MGB....thanks, allen

Answer
Hi Allen.  The rear bump stops just pull off.  To fit new ones, lubricate the hole with silicone grease and hold the bump stop roughly in position with a lump of wood.  Then jack the axle up and the weight of the car will do the work for you.

The 8 rearmost bushings can be done in situ.  Once again, use silicone grease to slip them into place.

The big eye bushes at the front of the rear springs can also be replaced, but you will need to take the springs off the car to do this, and you will need a suitable press.  It can be done with a 6 inch vice and some big sockets.
