MG Car Repair: spare fuel pump, facet pump, one way valves

Howard,I have a 1965 Sprite with the original fuel pump installed and working well. Because of its age I would like to install a back up pump like the Facet solid state pump Moss sells and switch it on when needed. How do I plumb the facet pump into the existing fuel line ?

Hi Al,
That depends on if the Facet pump has one way valves or not. If it does, all you need to do is to put a "Y" in the fuel line before the SU pump and after the SU pump and connect hoses to the two "Y" connectors.

If the Facet pump does not have a one way valve system in it you would need to install a one way valve in either line the Facet pump is on.
SU pumps have a one way valve system.
