MG Car Repair: 79 MG Midget, 50th birthday present, turn signals

Driving home from work, the turn signals/tach/wipers/temp. and fuel gauges  
stopped working.  My '50th birthday present' was made for the USA but I am
delighted to say I drive it in Saskatchewan!  I already know it needs a tuneup as
it occasionally 'runs on' after turning the ignition off and infrequently may
backfire when shutting down the engine.

Hi Celine.  From your description it seems that you have a problem with fuse number 3.  The engine did not stop, but all the accessories failed.  Check the fuse and check the connections to the fusebox.  This fuse will have all white wires one side, and all green wires the other side.  After 30 years, these boxes do develop odd faults, so if there is no obvious problem I would buy a new fusebox.  Make sure you fit the new fusebox the right way up.  There is a hidden link connecting fuses number 1 and 2 (look behind it).
