MG Car Repair: exhaust replacement 1979 roadster, peco exhaust, muffler shop

Question
This is most likely a question that you may not answer.  I have a 1979 MGb.  It has a Weber carb.  I am thinking of installing a PECO exhaust.  The current set up has the pipe from the first muffler clamped to the manifold.  I cannot at this time afford to replace the manifold.  The PECO is a 2 inch system.  Will the system fit the existing manifold or will I have to wait until I can afford the manifold.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Norman,
You are correct that I can't answer your question but that is a logical question for the supplier of the PECO system. Just ask them what is the front mounting to either what manifold or what kind of pipe. Any muffler shop can "cut and weld" adapters to fit any exhaust to any car.

It is hard to believe that you or someone put a Weber intake manifold and didn't change the exhaust manifold as they were junk. I could have sold hundreds of the SU carb car exhaust manifolds if I had them to people with single Stromberg cars.
