MG Car Repair: 1954 MGTF wheel arch, rear quarter panel, wheel arch

Hello Barrie,

I am attempting to remove the driver side rear quarter panel in order to fix a dent. It looks to me that I should remove the quarter panel and the wheel arch together. I have removed everything except a group of four fasteners that seem like brads with large flat heads. How do you remove these? Is the quarter panel welded to the wheel arch?

Hi Lynden.  I wish you luck.  I have tried a few times to remove a rear quarter panel intact.  I have never succeeded in re-using one.  They were wrapped around the ash frame and then tacked into place with nails.  There was no welding involved.  Large headed brads do not sound right, maybe someone has been there before you?  I would be fascinated if you succeed.  Please let me know how you get on.
