MG Car Repair: MG MIDGET, clutch slave cylinder, engine mountings

Question
Steps to pull out transmission

Answer
Hi Nemo.  The Midget workshop manual devotes half a page to this.

Basically, you have to remove the radiator and various ancillaries such as starter motor and dynamo.  Also undo the front engine mountings and disconnect the oil and temperature senders.  Underneath the car you must disconnect the clutch slave cylinder, undo the gearbox mountings, and undo the propshaft.  Then you must remove the gear lever.

Eventually, you can extract the engine plus gearbox plus propshaft as a single unit.

Alternatively, it is possible to separate the engine from the gearbox and remove them separately.  Either way, they must both come out.
