MG Car Repair: 1976 MGB stopped running while driving, spare wheel, mgb

Question
Our 1976 MGB was running great, then we just lost power while driving.  The car will not start now.  Is it the fuel pump?

Answer
Hi Lisa.  Can you hear the pump ticking when you first turn the ignition on, before you hit the starter?   If you cannot hear it, then it is the pump.  You could try cleaning the points inside the top of the pump.  They are accessible via an access hole in the boot (trunk).  Look for a black metal cover behind the spare wheel.  This is a common problem.  See my previous answers for more details.
