MG Car Repair: proceedure for replacing the cluth M/C, clutch master cylinder, brake servo

Question
QUESTION: I am going to replace the clutch M/C on my 1979 MGB.  My question is the plunger on the M/C connects to something in the black box (I think)which is attached to the brake servo?.  Is this a major operation? And what can I expect when I open up the box where the plunger is attached.  Thanking you in advance.

Norman

ANSWER: Hi Norman,
The master cylinder rod attaches to the upper end of the clutch pedal with just a clevis pin.

QUESTION: Is there any way to adjust the grabbing point for the clutch on a 79 MGB?  I replaced the slave and bled the system.. The clutch grabs and the gears don't grind.  I would just like it to engage a little sooner than it does.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Norman,
The only ways to get the clutch to engage sooner (closer to the floor) is to remove the clutch master cylinder and cut the operating rod shorter and weld it back together. Another method would be to make some shims to space the master cylinder away from it's mounting. Both methods will place the clutch pedal closer to the floor and it will not be lined up with the brake pedal as it is now.
