MG Car Repair: Missing parts of my midget, aftermarket air filter, moss motors

Question
MG Car Repair: Missing parts of my midget, aftermarket air filter, moss motors
This is all I got
I recently purchased a Miget after looking at the engine I noticed that the air filter was missing, along with everything else that is suppose to be before the carb.  Basically the carb is naked.  My question is what are the parts that are suppose to be connected to the carb. I know the air filter housing but nothing else. Unfortunatly I am waiting for the repair book I ordered and I want to order the parts I need now.

Answer
Hi Mike.  From the photo I can see that you have a single Stromberg carburetter attached to a 1500 Midget engine.  I also see that the fuel line is braided plastic - this is dangerous.  You must replace the braided plastic tubing with the correct fuel hose designed to take gasoline.

All the parts that you require should be available from Moss Motors.  Here is a link to their website, which contains lots of exploded diagrams:

If it is permitted in your state (and if you are not concerned with originality), then I would fit one of the aftermarket air filter kits that they sell.
