QUESTION: I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR HELPING WITH LOCATING THE FUSE BOX. IM SORRY TO BOTHER YOU WITH YET ANOTHER TRIVIAL QUESTION. I JUST CANT SEEM TO FIND ANY SPECS ONLINE ANYWHERE, I DID FIND BREAKDOWN ON MY VIN. NOW MY ISSUE IS FLUIDS SYNTHETIC OR NOT. I KNOW ABOUT THE BRAKE FLUID BUT NOT SURE OF THE OIL AND ITS CAPACITY.

Answer
The oil capacity is 9.6 US pints and as to what oil to use, that is up to you. Some of the new synthetic oils are compatible with fossil oil so you can just change the oil and filter. However other synthetic oils are not and you should clean out the engine to use them.

I can not recommend any of the synthetic oils as I don't have enough experience with them to be an authority on them.

I have just now started using one of the Castrol synthetic oils that is compatible in an engine that has been using fossil oil but have not used it long enough to comment on it.

I have learned a long time ago, not to believe most of the hype that any manufacture claims until I learn for myself.
I have experience with Castrol 10w 30 and 20w 40 oil in MGs for many years and I trust that oil.
The grade of oil should match the condition of the engine and the local temperature. I would not recommend any oil thinner than 10w 30 in the winter nor any thing thicker than 20w 40 in the summer in any good engine. If you have a worn out engine that is burning oil only then would I go to a 20w 50 oil and an oil additive to get by, until you can have the engine overhauled.

On the brake and clutch fluid I do recommend Castrol DOT 4 only.
