MG Car Repair: 1972 mg midget odor, rubber diaphragm, charcoal canister

Question
Hello Howard, once again thank you for all the help.
My mg midget is now on jacks and I was looking towards the summer.
In preparation for this, I'm thinking of what I may have to do.
I was wondering whether there is a PCV valve on midgets?  If so, where and what does it look like?  Do you have a picture?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Rico,
I don't remember what years had the PCV valve but the only PCV valve used on the Midgets was a large disk shaped valve in the top of the intake manifold about in the middle between the two carburetors. It had a wire clip holding the flat disk top on it and under that was a rubber diaphragm with a pin pointed down.

No conventional PCV valve (like on domestic cars) was ever used on the Midgets. Earlier systems just vented the engine fumes into the air filter cans and later ones vented in to both carburetors. In 75 when they put the Triumph Spitfire engine in the Midget they vented the crankcase fumes into the carburetor and the charcoal canister/s.
