MG Car Repair: Clutch, clutch hydraulics, clutch pedal

Question
Dear Howard:

I have just bought a MG Midget 1977, and have no experience on these cars. The problem is that can not change velocities, it has a new master cylinder and line. I have been told that maybe there is some air in the line and need to bleed it. I have checked my manual and does not indicate where is located the bleed nipple. Is it near the master cylinder or is under the car near the clutch?
Sorry for asking such a dummy question and ask for your comprehension.
Best regards

Answer
Hi Enrique,
Yes, it could be air in the clutch hydraulics. This is usually noted by a soft feeling in the clutch pedal close to the top. The pedal should have about an inch free play and then be firm all the way to the floor. If it is not like that, you could have air in the system. The bleeder is on the top of the slave cylinder mounted into the lower part of the bell housing. Accessible from under the car.
