MG Car Repair: electrical, mgb gt, wireing diagram

i have a 1973 mgb gt i put the heater on and it started smoking on the fan connections under the bonnet i pull them of i now have no ignition i check the fuses they are ok is there any more fuses under the dash the wireing only burnt the end of the wires not gone into the loom i have had the car running again but seem to have a problem with the ignition any info would be a help thankyou paul and where can i get a wireing diagram

A wiring diagram is what you need to trace out all that. Go to my web site and I have put two diagrams up for you to copy. It depends on your VIN number as to which you need. From VIN #
GHD5-296001 to GHD5-328800 use 73MGB11x1.jpg and for VIN # GHD5-328801 onward use 73MGB21x1.jpg
You can access them at http://mg-tri-jag.net/73MGB11x1.jpg and change the suffix to 73MGB21x1.jpg for the later VIN #.  For the index to the diagrams go to 74MGB21x1.jpg (the index is the same for 73 and 74.)
