MG Car Repair: oil pan gasket, pan gasket, minor leaks

Question
Hello Howard,
As usual, thank you for the great advise on my previous question.

It seems as though the oil spot on my driveways thanks to the midget is gettting worse.  I checked underneath and it appears as though all the oil is leaking from the oil pan gasket.  I have a 72 midget and my question is whether changing the pan gasket requires me to remove additional parts from the vehcile other than the pan from the engine?  Basically are all the bolts accessible without removing additional parts?
The reason I ask is because I also have a 03 subaru legacy that required me to remove the driveshaft in order to remove all the bolts.  It was time intensive and I don't want to go through the hassle with the midget.

Answer
Hi Rico,
No, nothing else needs to be removed to get the pan off of a 1275cc Midget. You should check to see that you do not have excess crank case pressure causing the pan gasket to leak. Also don't expect to make the Midget a 100% non-drip car. All the British cars I worked on over the years had minor leaks (even new). British motorcycles too. The owners learned to live with it and even made many jokes about it.
