MG Car Repair: head rest, line mechanic, upholstery work

I want to recover my seat on a 75 MGB, but I can't get the head rest out.

Hi Steve,
I was a line mechanic for many years but never did upholstery work, however I have seen a loose headrest and the bottom of the post has a spring loaded one way barb that locks when the headrest is pushed into it's socket. You have to start to remove the seat back cover to gain access to depress the lock tab. Some seat backs had a cardboard backing under the cover that needs to be removed also.
