Question
i have 2 all brown wires near the alternater joint of the loom, only long enough to reach the fuse box located on the inner fender . these wires are not hot but controle dash and door alarm when connected together at fuse box,but not individually-both must be connected at same point and time. without these two connected i have no power to dash or ignition at all. this vehicle has obviosly been messed with in the past and i would like to put it back correctly .can you give me any idea how to right this problem and where i can find a good wiring diagram that will lead me in the right direction. vehicle is usa  1977 model. many thanks

Answer
All brown wires should be permanently live.  If they are not, you have a wiring problem.

The best book for a 1977 MGB is the "MGB Repair Operation Manual" part number AKM4070.

It has both UK and USA wiring diagrams, and covers all the later cars right up to 1979.
