MG Car Repair: Passenger side front disk brake rotor removal, brake rotor removal, hub assembly

Question
I have a 1966 MGB with a bad brake disk and I am having difficulity pulling the disk off. I've removed the 4 bolts and the disk appears loose but will not slide over the grease cap and bearings. It's been on the car for numerous years and the disk needs to be changed. It seems frozen in place.

Answer
Hi Robert.  The disk sits on the inside of the hub.  It does not come off over the grease cap.

You say that you have removed the 4 bolts, so I assume that you have already removed the disk and hub assembly from the front stub axle.  Lay the disk in a large vise (or on two bricks), then hit it with a mallet.  This should break the rust that is holding these two parts together.  If it still won't come apart, you can apply heat to the disk, or you could take the hub to a garage that has a small press.  Do not be afraid to damage the disk, you are replacing it anyway, but try not to damage the hub.
