MG Car Repair: 1974 mgb turn signals, turn signal flasher, flasher units

Question
I asked before where the turn signal flasher is located and you replied that it is a rectangular device mounted to the fire wall but that is not the flasher but the voltage stabilizer. Any other place it could be located? My problem is the turn signals stopped working but the way hazards all work does this sound like it's the flasher?

Answer
Hi Neil
Sounds to me like the hazard flasher switch is corroded internally.  This is a common problem.  The flashers work fine, but you never use the hazards.  Then, one day you use the hazards, and the flashers no longer work.  In the UK, this often happens after the annual road-worthiness test.  Try operating the hazard switch a few times, and usually the flashers will start to work again.

To answer your original question, if you have found the voltage stabiliser, then you are looking too high, and possibly the LHD cars had the flasher unit mounted on the other side of the car.  There are two flasher units.  One is for the turn indicators, the other is for the hazard lights.  The hazard unit is located behind the radio console.  It is a higher wattage because it operates 4 lights and 2 warning lights.
