MG Car Repair: mga wont start, maintenance experience, little car

husband just installed new starter and new batteries but 1961 mga is unresponsive - any tips (he has little car maintenance experience)

Hi Vicki,
You will have to be more specific, What do you mean "Unresponsive"? It spins the engine but it will not start? or do you mean when you pull the start cable, nothing happens? Does it make any noise of any kind when you pull the starter cable?
