MG Car Repair: 1978 mgb wiring harness connections to the fuel pump, rear lamps, rear harness

Question
hi, i have a 1978 mgb. just got new fuel pump but the connection for the power is gone from the wiring harness.  is there somewhere i can purchase this connection that goes on the white wire from the harness, or would i have to buy the entire rear harness?  also,is there supposed to be more than just the black wire(which seems to be a ground) and the white one that plugs into the elbow-like plug on the fuel pump(this is the one that is missing  i'd even be willing to pay for a used connection (with a little wire on it) for the white wire.can you direct me?

Answer
The black wire is indeed an earth (ground), and the white wire is the power supply.  If the wire has snapped off, you can usually peel back the plastic wrapping from the loom enough to reveal the broken end of the wire.  Then you will need to strip about 10mm of insulation from the white wire and connect another piece to it with a crimp connector.  The end that connects to the pump will require a female push-on 6mm blade connector, known in the trade as a Lucar connector.  I could make one up for you.  It would cost pennies.

The MGB has a separate rear loom that comes up inside the engine compartment beside the heater motor.  It contains all the rear wires (rear lamps plus fuel pump).  You should be able to buy this as a separate item.  In the UK, I would go to AutoSparks of Nottingham.
