MG Car Repair: 1975 midget carb .strongberg, emission control system, charcoal canister

Question
when trying to start the car. the carb is geting to much gas flooding plugs ,and going every where .please help. THANKS SO MUCH.

Answer
Hi Mitchell,
If the carburetor is flooding and fuel is running out of the float vent tube you need to remove the carburetor and check the float and float needle and seat. Then check fuel pressure. It should be about 1.5 but not higher than 3 PSI.

If the float, needle and seat are ok and the fuel pressure is correct than you need to check the auto choke as it may be on all the time causing the excess fuel.

If the float was the problem and you still have the emission control system on the car, you need to replace the charcoal canister because it will also be flooded with fuel and thus destroyed.
