MG Car Repair: Follow up -midget carb, disposable gloves, float chamber

Question
QUESTION: how do I clear the stale fuel from the carburetter float chambers?

ANSWER: I assume that you have a 1500 Midget with twin SU carbs type HS.

Each car has a float chamber at the side, and the lid is held on with 3 screws.  Remove the screws, remove the lid, and use an old towel to soak up all the fuel inside the bowls.  Turn the ignition on to clear any stale fuel from the fuel line.  Then put it all back together.  I would use rubber gloves for this operation.  I buy disposable gloves by the hundred.  DON'T SMOKE while doing this, and don't breathe the fumes.

QUESTION: It has a single carb and I see that it has the float chamber at the bottom with a plug.  Do I just remove the plug to drain it?  Do I need to prime the carb after doing all of the cleaning and draining?

Answer
Sorry, but I am not familiar with the USA version that has a single carb.  I don't even know what make it is (SU or Stromberg?)

Since the car has an electric pump, this will fill the carb automatically when you turn the ignition on.  No need to prime it.  You should always wait until the pump stops ticking before you operate the starter motor.
