MG Car Repair: heater assembly, british car club, heater control valve

Question
Hello again Howard,
My 77 midget, the heater assembly has been taken apart. I cant figure out how it goes back together. I bought the car with the heater box dis-assembled. Currently the hose is hooked up as follows: A metal tube sits behind the head and over the trans bell housing with two ends. A vertical branch is connected to the intake manifold and the horizontal part is blocked off.Im guessing this is what connects to the heater core. Also the car is missing the heater control valve. Any ideas on replacements. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe K.

Answer
Hi Joe,
I know what you are up against, however it has been 30 years since I worked on the 1500 Midget and that is probably longer than you seen the heater hoses connected. I dug through all my books and paper and can't find a good layout of the heater hoses. The only picture I have found is not much help but I put it up on my web site for you anyway. I will continue to dig and let you know if I find any good lay out pictures. In the mean time you should try to contact any member in your local British car club to get in contact with anyone with a 1500 midget as they will all be close to yours. (only 75 up)
The only picture I found is on my site at, mg-tri-jag.net/1500heaterHoses1x1.jpg
