MG Car Repair: 1974 mg, broken bolts, mg midgets

Question
how much time would it take to swap the engines from two 1974 mg midgets from one to the other? also the transmissions?

Answer
Hi John,
That is a humorous question. I was able to put an engine and trans on the floor in 30 min in a dealership I worked in. (in 1967)
In the early 90s I did one in my home garage (same tools) and it took me almost 3 hours. Putting one back in, usually takes a little longer.
Asking me how long it would take, tells me you have never done it before so I would say it would probably take you almost a full day to pull one and put it back in. Advice, get a manual and several containers to put nuts and bolts in according to the area of the car you are working in. This will speed things up putting it back in.
If you are young and fast you may do a swap in 4 to 6 hours. Rusty and broken bolts really slows you down.
Good luck,
Howard
