MG Car Repair: Steering Shaking, mgb roadster, steering wheel

Question
Howard,
I own a 1965 MGB Roadster. I get quite a severe shaking through the steering wheel at about 60mph which disappears at about 65. It holds a straight line well. Any ideas what this could be?

Answer
Hi Adrian,
Generally, if the wheel shakes in a circle motion, it is an out of balance front wheel/s, Unless it only shakes at 60+ when you hit a bump, then it is most likely loose play somewhere in the front steering and/or suspension.
If the shaking in the wheel it up/down and not circular and you feel it in the seat, then it is most likely a rear wheel that is out of balance.
This is general but usually the case.
