MG Car Repair: need to know, good mileage, fuel mileage

I am going to look at a 1975 MG Midget, I am looking for a car thats sheep on gas and can travel up to 12 hours at a time...is this car a good one to invest in, or is it a waste of time?

While a Midget is good on fuel mileage, it is not a highway cruiser meaning it would not be a car that you would want to drive on US expressways. The car is a fun car to drive but it is 33 years old and was designed to run on winding country roads and if you were to have trouble it may be difficult to find anyone who could fix it or get parts quickly.

If you are looking for a car that can reliably take you on 12 hour runs and get good mileage you best look for something newer than a 33 year old car.
