MG Car Repair: MGB 77 Dash illummination lamps are too dim, wattage bulbs, dash light

Hi Howard;

My dash lights are very dim even I adjust the dimmer controller to maximum.  Is this normal for 1977 MGB or something went bad?  Is there a voltage regulator for these lamps?  If so, can you tell me where is it located?  What to do to get them brighter?

Hi Yung,
Unless the dimmer switch is bad, the only thing you can do is get higher wattage bulbs. There is no voltage regulator for the bulbs. To test to see if the car is wired wrong run a test lead from a power supply to the dash light wire.
