MG Car Repair: 76 MGB Seat back adjustments, inboard side, seat back

Question
QUESTION: The seatback adjustment levers on the "inboard" side of the seats do not allow the seat back to be relocated.  Suggestions?

ANSWER: Hi Dan,
That lever is not an adjustment. It just unlatches the seat back so it can be brought forward to gain access to the shelf behind the seat.

QUESTION: Clarification.  These are the long levers located about half-way up the driveshaft tunnel side of the seats.  I found, and can operate, the lower lever knobs at the door jam side of the seats.

Answer
Hi Dan,
This is the long flat lever? The only thing you can do is take the seat back out of the car as I don't think you can access any of the workings while the seat back is in the car. You may be able to take the two bolts securing the seat back to the bottom out to make it easier to access the works to see what has failed. Rust and corrosion is probably the cause and a little cleaning and lubing may correct the problem unless something is broken. You will just have to get into it, to see what is wrong.
