MG Car Repair: Carb tuning, jiggle, carbs

Question
Howard, I am beginning to feel I know you after all these questions! Jon with
the 76 Midget (1275 in it). The carbs are AUD502F/R. I removed the jet
bearing, complete with jet attached to get a closer look. The lever, metal
piece attached to the plastic part of jet, moves freely when it is NOT attached
to jet. When attached--not even a jiggle. I now get the concept of the
adjusting nut, pulling down only on jet and the lever, being spring loaded
with upwards pull (when choke not engaged)--when choke engaged--pulls
down on jet. Ok. So, with entire jet bearing assembly and jet removed..the
inside "jet-tube" does not move at all. I tried pressure, everything. So. I am
ordering 2 new bearing assemblies complete with jets. Anything else to look
for>?

Answer
With the lever detached the jet should move up and down freely. It must move freely because the spring loaded lever must be able to lift it up when the Jet adjusting nut is run up and when the choke is retracted.
I sounds like you are getting there.
