MG Car Repair: gas leaking from evap. loss canister, mg midget, stuck in one

Question
I have a 72 MG Midget. After replacing the plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap, rotor and points, I ran the car for a few minutes and gas started to pour out of the hose at the bottom of the evap. loss canister.  What is causing this? It did not happen prior to the tune up.

Answer
Hi Lisa,
Most likely it is the float is stuck in one or both carburetors. The vents for the carburetor float chambers are vented to the canister. The fuel tank may also be vented to the canister on that year model so if the tank were over filled that could do it too. But most likely it is one or both carburetors.
Let me know,
Howard
