MG Car Repair: mg midget brake master cyl., flat blade, forward line

Question
QUESTION: Hi, Iam trying to rebuild my master cyl, on a 1972 midget 1275. I can not get the plastic bushing to come out any ideas? also the car has sat for 20 yrs. Thank you Dewayne

ANSWER: Hi Dewayne,
If the plastic bushing you are talking about is white, then you need to take a small sharp flat blade screwdriver and a hammer and chisel it into small pieces. It is hard and brakes up easily after you break out the first pieces. The repair kit contains a new white plastic bushing.

QUESTION: Thank you,The back piston is also stuck. Do you think it can be rebuilt. Thank you again.

Answer
Usually the other piston can be removed by banging the cylinder down hard on a wooden block. If that don't get it out use compressed air in the forward line hole but put a rag over the open end of the cylinder because sometimes they stick and break loose hard and the piston will come out like a shot gun shot.
