MG Car Repair: Car Stalls Overheating Coil, spring fever, car stalls

Question
Howard, this is another new thread so a quick refresher:

This is the 1975 MGB with the coil over heating.

My the last identified problem was that the battery was getting 15 volts and I
had to check to see if the alternator/regulator were working properly.

The alternator/regulator was not working properly.

I had it repaired and reinstalled it.

The power to the battery is now 13.5 volts.

I ran the car and the coil is still overheating.

I have three coils and each have heated up to the point of failure about three
times each.

Are these coils now “broken” and do I need to get a new coil before we start
the next step?

What is the next step?

It is getting warmer in the northeast and this car has not been on the road
since 1983 and I am getting spring fever for a nice drive.

Help!!

Answer
If the coil is a 1.5 ohm, it should not be bad so you need to replace the resistor wire that powers the coil. If you have a coil that is failing, test the ohms at the time of failure to see if the ohms have changed and tell me what the reading is.
