MG Car Repair: MGB Wirering Problems, e mail address, starter solenoid

Question
1979 MGB when you turn on the light the motor will crank. This is without the ignition on.White wire with blue tracer at switch if tested is grounded.I have inspected exterior of wire lume and found no apparent damage. We removed the engine for seal replacement and everything worked before.ALL wires were tagged before being disconnected.

Answer
Hi Jerry,
The starter solenoid can only activate if the starter relay is triggered or current is applied to the starter solenoid by some other source. First look at the starter solenoid to see if it has two small flat spade connectors. If so try switching the two leads (small spade connectors) Only one is the trigger and if you have them switched it may have a back feed that is causing your problem.
If it is not that, you need a wiring diagram to start tracing the starter relay circuit. If you don't have a diagram let me know and give me an e-mail address and I will send you one. Let me know either way.
